Add a dash of pattern by buttoning a cocktail napkin over a plain pillow. Use a purchased pillow or make a cover from a pair of solid-color dinner napkins.

What You Need:

  • 2 dinner napkins (optional)

  • Cocktail napkin in a coordinating pattern

  • 4 matching buttons

  • Purchased pillow the same size or slightly smaller than the dinner napkins or a plain-color pillow

  Instructions:

A plain pillow may be used, or a cover can be made from two dinner napkins. If a purchased pillow is used, eliminate the dinner napkins and the cover instructions.

To make the cover, place the dinner napkins wrong sides together. Topstitch close to the edges of 3 sides. Slip the pillow into the opening and topstitch the remaining pillow side closed.

Make a buttonhole in each corner of the cocktail napkin. Center the napkin over the pillow and mark the placement of the buttonholes. Sew a button at each mark. Button the cocktail napkin over the pillow.
