Medium weight sand paper

glue or glue gun and glue sticks
Directions:
1.
Sand the wooden pieces. Wipe clean with tack cloth.
2.
Paint all pieces with base or primer coat. Let dry completely. Lightly
sand a second time. Wipe clean with tack cloth.
3.
With acrylic paint color of choice, paint entire surface of wooden
pieces. Let dry completely.
4.
Beginning at shelf center, use tape to create stripes about 1/4" apart.
Shelves will be turned upside down to create the base of the bookends.
5.
Paint stripes with 1/4" flat brush beginning at center of shelf and
working out. Change colors as desired.
6.
Using opposite end of brush, dip into paint and dot on letters. Reload
tip with paint after each dot. Let dry.
7.
With wood glue or hot glue, attach a letter to each shelf, making sure
they are placed in the right direction.
8.
In a well-ventilated area, spray varnish all wood.
