Terra Cotta Birdbath

Supplies:

  • 4" terra cotta saucer

  • 3-1/2" terra cotta flower pot

  • Craft glue or hot glue

  • 2 mushroom birds

  • Small pieces dried flowers & moss

  • 1 yd. of several strands of natural raffia

Directions:

  1. Turn flower pot upside down and glue saucer on top of pot.

  2. Glue small clusters of dried flowers and moss to sides of saucer. Glue one bird to each side of saucer on top of dried materials. Add more flowers and moss where desired around birds. (Hint: If birds do not stay with glue, use a small dab of floral clay.)

  3. Glue 2 or 3 strands raffia to each bird's beak, letting raffia twist and drape slightly.

  4. Tie remaining raffia around birdbath -- add a dab of glue at back if necessary to hold, and tie a bow in front. Glue on additional small flowers to center of bow.

Other Options:

  1. Use smaller terra cotta pots & saucers and smaller birds. Use them as place settings at a shower or spring party. Fill with colored water or pretty candies.

  2. Make several birdbaths in various sizes. Add pillar candles to center of birdbaths and arrange in a row on a table or buffet.

  3. Paint the birdbaths -- gold, silver, white, sponged for a different look.

  4. Float tiny roses, a single gardenia, or various colors of loose rose petals in saucer.
