Here's a simple way to create a custom piece of furniture. Coordinate the fabric and design with your pillows, drapes or other furniture; or, use a contrasting color or pattern to set the ottoman on its own. This technique also works great for brightening up an old or worn-out ottoman that you just can't replace.

Materials:

  • Ottoman
  • Decorator print
  • Upholstery tacks
  • Scissors

Directions:

1.  Measure ottoman from bottom edge of one side, up across top & down to bottom edge of other side. Add 3" to get your cutting width.

2.  Measure ottoman from bottom edge to front, up across top & down to bottom edge back. Add 3" to get your cutting length.

3.  Cut fabric to size.

4.  Fold sides to make folded edges at corners, similar to wrapping a package.

5.  Staple or tack bottom edge on the underside.

6.  Evenly space three tacks at each corner bottom edge.

Tips:

*  Center print design on top of ottoman before cutting fabric.

*  Use tacks that contrast against your fabric.

*  If ottoman is round/oval, measure diameter and width.
