Backyards can be
wonderful,
intimate and
beautiful places
to be married
and celebrate.
With a few small
accommodations,
your backyard
can be
transformed into
a perfect spot
to entertain
wedding guests.
The trick is to
plan ahead of
time, consider
your budget, the
weather, yard
size and number
of guests.
It may seem
difficult at
first, but most
of it has all
been thought out
before -- you
can get
excellent
wedding plan
books that iron
out all the
wrinkles for you
ahead of time!
Don’t let the
size of the
effort overwhelm
you; just survey
the lawn, check
your finances,
take a deep
breath and start
at the
beginning.
So, think about
it: you will
basically want
an attractively
decorated, warm,
dry place for
your guests to
view your
wedding and
celebrate
afterwards. Your
backyard will
have to be big
enough to
accommodate the
number of guests
you’re inviting,
a space for you
to say your vows
and a place for
a meal. Dancing
and
entertainment
might take a bit
more room. Look
at your weather
possibilities;
there is no sure
thing, but
historically,
what can you
expect around
that date?
No matter what
the Farmer’s
Almanac
forecasts, have
a plan B,
whether it be
the house or a
tent or some
other structure.
Check your
personal
tolerance level
for possible
damage to the
yard, your
favorite
rosebush or
garden and plan
accordingly.
After these
large issues are
worked out --
the BIG picture
-- you can begin
to plan the fun
stuff.
Decorations,
color schemes
and menus are
the details that
personalize and
can be most fun.
Remind yourself
that indoor
weddings can be
trying to one's
patience as
well, but you
don’t get the
bonus of the
beautiful
outdoors!
