One of today's latest home
decor and interior design tricks is to extend a room's depth
and/or completely change it's look by adding an exciting new
wall mural. Home decorators have used this trick for years
in especially smaller rooms and older homes. Rather than
refurnish a room completely many will opt for the complete
room decor design change by adding a "theme" mural. This
allows the owner to express their own creativity and
imaginative dreams in their office, den, bedroom, living
room, kitchen, bathroom - any room(s) in their home or
office.
What makes this type of addition so desirable? First, let's
look at an older room. Perhaps the room has gotten
stale over the years. A good example of this concept is the
very common white or beige four wall room. Interior
designers used to teach that by painting all walls in a
white or off white color the room(s) would appear bigger
then they were. This technique normally did make your room(s)
look larger; but in due time this can also become boring,
especially if every room in the home is painted this way.
Have a wall with a chip, smaller hole or scar of some sort?
You don't want to patch it, sand it and then re-paint the
patch? Oh yes - and try to match the original paint?
In my opinion, the quickest and best way to give the older
room or home a new beginning is to add an exciting new
"theme" wall covering; thus altering the complete interior
theme design of the room(s) or home. The result of this
simple decorating modification can be astounding.
You will find that normally the murals come in panels and in
basic, or fairly close to, these standard sizes: "Full Wall"
size (ie. 9 foot by 15inch wide), "Above Chair Rail" size (ie.
6 foot x 10 foot 6 inch wide) , or the much smaller "Window"
size (various smaller sizes).
The larger "Full" and "Above Chair" wall murals will change
a whole room, and in some cases set a decorating trend that
will continue throughout your home. For example, a kitchen
or dinning room with a wall covering using the "Paris
street, wine shop, outside café..." theme automatically
transports all family and guests to a place they have been,
or want to visit. Or, you can begin to enjoy the unique blue
tranquility of the ocean the very day you install one of the
many "ocean view" wall murals in your office, living room,
bedroom or family room. Whether you prefer the trees and an
outdoors woodsy view with a covered bridge, the romance of
the orient, a misty "good morning" view of a lake... these
murals bring tranquility and a breath of relaxed fresh air
to your senses.
It is amazing the difference even the smaller and less
expensive "Window" wall murals can make in a room. To give a
light, open and airy appearance in a room with no windows
add one of these smaller "Window size" murals. Included in
the "Window" selection is the smaller hutch or "nitch" wall
shelving look with various items displayed on the shelving (ie
shelving with unique wine bottles for your "grape and wind
decor", or a window ocean view for the beach or lighthouse
enthusiast), or a rustic country window with the view of the
sunny countryside. These smaller wall coverings make an
inexpensive bold statement as to the decorating theme one
has
chosen for the room(s).
Many of these wall coverings cater to a child's imagination
using colorful re-enactments with their favorite storybook
or thrilling comic book characters - perfect for children's
and teens' bedrooms. All these murals are conversation
pieces and a new beginning for your room(s) and home. Be
sure and check for "easy" to install instructions.
