Eat, Drink, Man, Woman: Keys To Holding A Fun Dinner Party
Quick & Easy Entertaining
Home Buyers, Don't Wait to Start Planning Your Housewarming Party
(ARA) - This summer, dads everywhere will be manning backyard barbeque grills.
Those who have just your basic grill will most likely stick to what they know --
flipping steaks, brats and burgers.
But this year, you can help make dad's dream of creating professional chef
quality results come true by letting him in on the 'secret' to professional
grilling -- infrared technology.
Char-Broil has just rolled out its new Char-Broil TEC Series, a
professional-grade grill featuring the same infrared cooking technology used in
upscale steakhouses. The price? Less than $1,000 for a grill comparable to those
with price points in the $4,000 to $5,000 (and above) range.
"This is the first commercial-grade infrared grill to come on the market at
consumer-friendly prices," said Char-Broil vice president Rob Schwing. "We
expect them to be extremely popular among quality-conscious backyard chefs with
very high standards -- and an eye on the pocketbook."
With more homeowners adding "outdoor kitchens" to their property, the TEC grill
comes at a time when people are looking for both affordability and quality --
with a little high-tech thrown in.
Using a patented infrared cooking system, the Char-Broil TEC grill can cook at
temperatures up to 900 degrees F -- replicating the even, radiant heat of
charcoal. An open-flame system on the same cooking surface allows cooks the
option to grill using a traditional gas or propane method. A flush-mount
infrared rotisserie burner and side burner add to the grill's versatility.
Here's a tasty recipe you may want to include with your gift to get dad started:
Chipotle-Rubbed Ribeye Steak with Gorgonzola Toasts
* Recipe courtesy of Chef Marvin Woods (Makes 6 Servings)
Ingredients:
6 1-inch-thick Ribeye Steaks (about 1 pound each)
1 tablespoons Hungarian sweet paprika
2 teaspoons crushed chipotle chile pepper
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
2 cloves fresh garlic
1/2 bunch fresh flat parsley
salt and pepper to taste
3 loaves ciabatta bread, halved horizontally, each half cut crosswise
Extra Virgin Olive oil
2 cups creamy Gorgonzola cheese
Directions:
1. Light Char-Broil TEC Series Grill and maintain medium-high heat.
2. Place paprika and chipotle, garlic and chopped parsley in a bowl. Rub mixture
on the steak, reserving 1 teaspoon of rub.
3. Sprinkle steaks generously with salt and pepper. Grill steaks to desired
doneness (allowing 5 to 7 minutes for resting the steaks).
These can be seared on the infrared side at a high heat or grilled slowly on the
open flame side.
4. Brush cut sides of bread with olive oil. Grill, cut side down, until slightly
charred, about one minute. Spread gorgonzola onto grilled side of each bread
slice. Sprinkle cheese with ground black pepper and reserved spice mixture.
Return bread to grill, cheese side up. Grill until cheese begins to melt and
bottom of bread is slightly charred, about 1 minute. Place bread on the plate.
Remove steaks and slice on a byass. Place on the bread
